What is nail transfer foil?
Transfer foil nail art is just that, a nail art style that involves placing foil paper sheerts over already painted fingernails for creating unique patterns and designs. The designs can include patterns and colors of any kind, and are easily adhered to the nail using a foil glue and then just pressing it on the nail.
Can you use nail foil on regular nails?
The answer is Yes, nail art foil can be used on natural nails, assuming you have previously used a nail foil glue for nail manicure. Actually the transfer foils can be used on acrylic, gel or regular nails.
Why won't my nail foils stick?
If your foil does not stick completely, having applied and cured in the LED/UV lamp the glue foil for 60s, it could be the following reasons. The gel glue has not cured completely, or you are not placing the design paper on the correct side ( the side that does not have shine), I recommend you to put pressure on the edges of the nail once you have placed the paper so that the design is completely glued. In case you are doing it with regular nail polish you will need another type of glue, this is usually white when you apply it and you must wait until it is transparent to stick the foil.
How long do nail foils last?
With a gel top coat the foils will last up to 4 weeks. The top coat gel polish will act as a protective barrier seal which covers the transfer wraps from being scratched.
In the case of regular polish, it will depend on the quality of the polish. Since most regular glazes do not last more than a week, then that will be the shelf life of the foil paper before it peels off.
Do you have to cure the gel foil glue?
You have to cure the gel foil glue for 60s under a UV/LED nail lamp with a wavelength power of 365nm+405nm, in order to cure the gel glue uniform.
How to do nail foil transfer?
One of the many advantages of nail foils is that you can never go wrong when using them. Compared to other complicated techniques, which require a precise hand and a lot of practice, transfer foils are a lot of fun, easy to use and always with the element of surprise. Here is a quick step-by-step tutorial on how to apply the foils.
- Step 1. Proceed with the cleaning and preparation of the nails.
- Step 2. Apply your gel base coat and then cure it under the UV/LED lamp for 60s.
- Step 3. Apply gel foil glue over the cured base coat or any color desired and cure it with the lamp.
- Step 4. Press the non-glossy side of the transfer nail art foil sheet lightly onto the fully cured (but still sticky) Dan's Nails foil glue.
- Step 5. Seal your finished nail art with the gel top coat, cure it, and you're done!
